For several years, Good Shepherd has partnered with Mildred Helms Elementary in Largo to support the students and families in our community.
Join WELCA in blessing the families of Mildred Helms ES
Thanksgiving is fast approaching. WELCA (Women of the ELCA) has sponsored a food drive the past few years to assist the families at Mildred Helms Elementary School. This year WELCA is requesting grocery store gift cards to assist the families. The gift cards must be to Mildred Helms by next Thursday, November 19th which will give them time to distribute them on November 20th their last day of school before the Thanksgiving break. You may drop the gift card off at the school or mail the gift card to the school. Please include a note letting them know that it is from the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd WELCA group. Partner with Lunch Pals
We have an opportunity to join with Pinellas County Schools as a Lunch Pals Partner, working with Mildred Helms Elementary School. The Lunch Pals program invites you to spend 30 minutes having a virtual lunch with a child who needs us most. Please consider learning about Lunch Pals and then attending a workshop and joining at lunchpals.org. Although the program is across the district, if you include Good Shepherd as your organization, they’ll pair you up with a student at Mildred Helms.

This year, school leaders have requested the following supplies:
• children and adult sized face masks
• liquid hand soap
• disinfecting wipes
• 1 gallon ziplock bags
• elementary aged children’s underwear
Because we are not gathering in person, these items can be shipped directly to the school by ordering the items online and changing the shipping address to the one included below. If you do not shop online, some retail stores like Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond also allow you to make an order at Customer Service that will be shipped to a particular address.
